A wide variety of program choices are available to help meet your educational goals. Come as a family, or come as a group with other families.
PLAN 1: On your Own
There is plenty to learn on your own. Self tour the Exhibit Hall, explore the hands-on Discovery Den, watch short videos about Illinois nature in the Rotary Nature Theater, and bring your notebook to jot notes as you observe wildlife in the Urban Wildlife Observation Center and Philbert's Pond living exhibits.
Cost: $6 adult, $5 children (12 and under), $5 seniors
PLAN 2: Guided Tour & Animal Presentation
Home school families are encouraged to plan a field trip together to take advantage of the group rate (15+ students). Your museum visit will include a guided tour of the museum's collection of 100 preserved animals with an emphasis on your chosen area of study, and a live animal presentation. Afterwards, enjoy time to explore on your own in the Discovery Den and Urban Wildlife Observation Center. Plan about 2 hours for your visit.
Cost: $5/student (min. 15); one parent per family is free; additional adults $5
PLAN 3: Guided Tour, Animal Presentation, & Classroom
Classroom programs designed to meet State of Illinois educational goals are available to enhance your Plan 2 field trip experience. Groups of 15 to 30 students can add one of the four 45-minute classroom programs listed below.Plan about 2 1/2 hours for your visit.
Cost: $5.50/student (min. 15); one parent per family is free; additional adults $5.
