Try your hand at fossil hunting at Vulcan Materials Quarry. We will meet at the quarry and learn about mining and fossils before heading into the field. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, call 815-895-9777 to register.

As part of the Big Read program, the DeKalb Public Library will be hosting four WILD story time sessions at the museum in October. Enjoy stories about wild animals, designed for children ages 3-5.

Hoo's for Dinner?

October 14 , 7-8:00 pm

$6/person (child or adult)

Celebrate that icon of Halloween--the owl--by dissecting an owl pellet! Owl pellets are balls of fur and bones that the owl cannot digest and coughs up. We'll walk through the dissection of pellets and identification of the remains found inside. Each person gets their own pellet. Space is limited, call 815-895-9777 to register.

Book Discussion: The Call of the Wild

As part of the Big Read program, the DeKalb Public Library will be hosting a book discussion on Jack London's The Call of the Wild--an unforgettable adventure about a courageous dog, beloved by children and adults. This discussion group is geared towards teens and adults and will be held in the Schelkopf gallery, among the wild animals of North America!
